1,000 Orang-utans Have Died the Year in Indonesia

We treat all of the great apes like shit (including ourselves). It is really a shame that all of the great apes (aside from Homo sapiens) are endangered species.

Orang-utans are critically endangered.

Ningsih, a four-year-old orang-utan, examines a newspaper in a Jakarta zoo. At least 1,000 orang-utans are estimated to have died in Indonesian land-clearing fires this year.
