Stop Getting Pre-approved Credit Offers in the Mail

Giving away credit to anyone and everyone is common practice in the United States and we are constantly bombarded by pre-approved credit offers. All they do at best is junk up our mailboxes, or help us get deeper into debt.

You can opt out of these for 5 years online and permanently by snail mail.

Opting-Out refers to the process for removing your name from lists supplied by the Consumer Credit Reporting Companies, Equifax, Experian, Innovis and TransUnion, to be used for firm (preapproved / prescreened) offers of credit or insurance. Your rights as a consumer under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) include the right to “Opt-Out” for 5 years or permanently.

By choosing the five year Opt-Out option, you can complete your request on this secure website. Your name will not be eligible for inclusion on lists used for firm offers of credit or insurance for five years.

Here is where you can go to opt-out. Alternately, you can chose to opt in if you change your mind.
