Often though on the ground things are much different I've realized; and it's interesting to hear your thoughts from there. It's an amazing country and much safer than the media would have you believe.On Northern Cyprus: it's very easy to get there from the south now and it's a lovely place, full of history and friendly people. You can cross on foot through the Ledra street pedestrian crossing in Nicosia, only really takes 5 minutes. It is also a perfect time for anyone who wants to save money as the tourist trade got hit hard here and Egyptians are eager for tourists to return. Safaris in the Western Desert are fantastic. The treacherous Great Sand Sea serves as a lethal and vigilant guard, effectively separating the chaos in Libya from the peace and excitement in Egypt. We, in the Bahariya oasis, have not seen or heard of any incidents in the Western Desert involving the turmoil in Libya. Egypt is an excellent place to visit right now — the post-revolution energy is high and it is a wonderful thing to see a new hope on the faces of the Egyptians.
