Start MSN Chats With ‘i’m’ and Contribute to Charity

MSN Messenger is the hugely popular instant messaging client used mostly outside of the US. Today Microsoft announced [via Lifehacker] that those with MSN can have money delivered to their favorite charity (including UNICEF) by beginning their first message with the word “i’m”. You need to complete this quick two step process first.

Unfortunately you have to be using the MSN client itself, using another service – Meebo for example, won’t cut it.

i?m is a new initiative from Windows Live? Messenger. Every time you start a conversation using i?m, Microsoft shares a portion of the program’s advertising revenue with some of the world’s most effective organizations dedicated to social causes. We’ve set no cap on the amount we’ll donate to each organization.
