Sri Lanka Evicts Tamils From Captial

The Sri Lankan police forced hundreds of Tamil residents from their homes in the capital Colombo last night. The move was made for ‘security‘ reasons as the fight between the Tamil Tigers and Sri Lankan government has increased dramatically in recent months.

Police said that Tamils who were in the capital “without valid reasons” were made to board buses bound for the north and east of the island.

This is a highly ineffective measure to “prevent the infiltration of Tamil Tigers into the capital.” There are over 600,000 people in Colombo, the? city has already been infiltrated for a long time.? The concerns about a possible civil war are? a major concern – persecuting innocent individuals is one way to speed up the process.
