Lighters Allowed Back On Planes August 4

Smokers rejoice! On August 4, 2007 lighters will no longer be prohibited on flights to, from, and within the US. (Torch lighters will continue to be banned.)

Around 22,000 lighters are confiscated around various checkpoints across the US. Having them lifted by security agents doesn’t really provide any additional security as matches? are allowed on airplanes and mostly because you need something worth lighting.

If the TSA catches the larger threats (aka. bombs, explosives, etc.) then bringing your Zippo along isn’t a problem.
