My last two trips (Chicago and S.F.) I printed my boarding card the previous day, (within 24 hours) and managed to grab the front row seat on each flight. Of course I was sitting at work exactly 24 hours the day before which made it easier :)I don't care to sit next to the bathrooms or near galleys on long flights. This is where people mill about, wait in bathroom lines, and gather with kids and babies to get some stretch time in. Also sitting next to a big bank of bathrooms you hear the doors creaking opening and closing, and the constant "whoooosh" of the toilets.I like being some where in the middle on long long flights - definitely on the 2 seat edge sides on the 777 and 767s. Just my opinion though.Have a good weekend - james...

With online check-in it’s very easy to get a seat closer up front.
