Last year many of you let us know that the global economic crisis wasn’t effecting your travel plans completely, but today I’d like to put your money where your mouth is.
Consider that you’re living paycheck to paycheck and the only lifeline you’ve got is a small nest-egg of savings you’ve tucked away. Then you are presented with a once in a lifetime trip – pick something that would be both tempting and unique for you – would you spend your savings to go?

I must be the only person that voted no!
My dream is to take a cruise from Ushuaia down the Antarctic peninsula. It starts around 4k plus airfare. If I had 5k laying around I still don’t think I’d do it, because I’d rather have MORE FREQUENT travel experiences than just one big one.
Would I like to see immense glaciers and cute penguins? Yes. But I’d rather be prudent with my resources and take OTHER trips, (cheap fares and hostels to Europe, long weekends in Mexico, etc) and have more experiences and memories filled in throughout a year than one giant trip only one time 4 years.
It reminds me of honeymoons. Couples always take one big lavish trip to Rio or the Bahamas – and they make it seem as though they could never go anywhere ever again upon returning.

Good point – giant trips also tend to insulate you from traveling I’ve noticed. I’m actually surprised that so many people said ‘yes’.
