tournamentNominate your favorite city in the world to visit for a chance to win $50 in the first Best City To Visit Contest 2009. To enter, simply name your favorite city in the comments below (first come, first serve – only one city per person) by February 27, 2009.

You don’t need to leave any explanation or reasons, just type in what your favorite city to visit is.

The cities will then be placed, by region, in a one on one tournament-style bracket in which readers will vote to see who advances each week. Voting for each round will begin every Monday during the month of March beginning next week on March 2nd.

Contest Details:

  • Only one city per person.
  • No changing your mind, once you enter a city you’re tied to it.
  • Your ‘name’ will be posted with your entry.
  • The person who nominated the winner will get $50 via Paypal on April 3, 2009.

I’ll take the first 16, 32, or 64 cities nominated – if I don’t get that many I’ll fill in the gaps with my favorites and the person to advance farthest wins. Good luck!

  1. Jakarta, Indonesia

Most travelers completely skip Jakarta and head right to Bali. But they are missing out one of the most exciting cities in Southeast Asia. Jakarta has it all, top Clubs, historic Dutch Colonial areas, a great china town, cool mosque (that are more welcome to foreigners than in other countries, in fact you can just walk in and introduce yourself), cheap to expensive shopping, a huge verity of food and (in my opinion) the coolest and most friendly locals in all of Asia.

I have lived in Jakarta for a bit over 4 years, the expats here consider it the best place in Southeast Asia to live

    Utrecht, The Netherlands

  4. Woah fuck, that city will never win ^_^

In the face-off, how about I write my own 200-300 words why my city is so great?
