According to an article recently published in Geophysical Research Letters, the last fall/winter season was Europe’s warmest in 700 years. In fact, the last time Europeans witnessed such unusually high temperatures was in 1289. (Although that was due to a major volcanic eruption in the area).
Recall how this past season Switzerland’s skiing industry was disrupted. Ski resorts across Europe have already begun creating contingency plans for an increased lack of snow.
