Yes, these hotels are huge complexes that take up an enormous amounts of space in overcrowded Indian cities to provide the amenities their clientele are looking for. I guess they can’t really build them closer in.

Most of the Foreign-branded hotels (definitely the newer ones) are closer to airports and outskirts (not sure about all the Taj hotels); but there are many high-end (but older) hotels in the middle of cities.

It’s actually not that surprising considering what higher-end hotels are looking for in terms of facilities and ability to re-develop…

I’ve noticed that the higher end hotels in India tend to be very close to the airports and scarce toward the middle of town. I’m not sure why that is.
