Sure there are certain cities you might want to avoid but but that shouldn’t turn people off the entire country because they look like really interesting places to visit.

I’m not a big Lonely Planet reader but as far as guidebooks they are good starting guides I think. The writers behind the stories are far more interesting.

Some of those people from the Lonely Planet have there own perception, I don’t ever listen to their personal opinion, but for navigation, hotel/hostels, and some history of an area, the Lonely Planet is a good guidebook.
