@ Cuckoo:

I'm glad you responded!

1. Good to hear that there are *some* good planners out there.

2. I don't see the pictures on your blog, do you take them but not post them?

3. What kind/size knife is it?

@ D:

I second that!

Oh, I don't know how this got left out inadvertently. Anyway, here I am.

1. I am quite a planner. I take pains to pack every smallest thing that I might need in emergency there but no, I don't carry a heavy bag.
2. Unlike guys, I take advantage for clicking my photos. Even if I don't know the language, I go to people and ask/gesture them directly with a smiling face and most often than not they don't refuse ! Being a woman is a bliss sometimes. ;)
3. Going by standards of Indian women, I am quite adventurous type. Have already done some, and shhhh... I carry a knife for self defense though have not used it till now. :-)

Oh, only three ? I could have written some more.

@ D:

1. That is quite a jump and can be intimidating when you don't know the language but all of your family is so excited to see you.

2. Being a guy seems to be universally easier in the sense that I can't think of a place where men needs escorts, get groped, don't get taken seriously, etc. Not saying that's what every place or Cambodia is like, but women often do have to put up with a lot more than men.

3. You look like them, but not quite. You are different somehow but people can't tell for sure what it is. I've seen that as well..

Thanks for sharing!

1. My first and only travel was from America to Cambodia--quite a leap. I also saw the rest of my family for the first time--none of whom spoke English.

2. It sucked being a female in a conservative country. I always needed an escort--really hampered traveling.

3. I was neither a foreigner nor an expat, so people stared at me, unsure if I were American or Cambodian, English-speaking or Khmer (Cambodian)-speaking. I'd attract crowds, as they were quite fascinated by...me. ^_^'
