Great recommendation Daniel, thanks. I use the Alfa AWUS036EH (300mW) – both are good tools for extending your wireless range. Not sure about the Hawking, but the Alfa also works well with some wi-fi detection and cracking tools. Not that I encourage that sort of thing…

If you’re looking for a good network adapter to replace your laptop’s PC card-based wireless network adapter with a USB network adapter that uses an external antenna you might want to consider the Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless USB network adapter, which adds an external, hi-gain antenna to your computer and significantly improves your range. I use it to good effect now in downtown Toronto to pick up lots of free wifi!
