As a Brit I do sympathise with your tax rules though for those who live out of the country. They get you every which way they can!

In reply to tom corley. JJ's last question: In a perfect world yes. The US individual income tax system is calendar year based. If you were outside the US the entire calendar year then, yes, the entire $99,200 in foreign earned income would be excluded.
