Now a few weeks out it might be that Omicron is what actually encourages some positive changes going forward. Many countries in Europe are beginning to declare the end of the pandemic and it seems others will follow. Hopefully there are no other viral surprises!

This is to say: travel bans, implemented AFTER a variant has been discovered and identified not only in its (so called) country of origin but also elsewhere, are practically useless.

I have been saying all along that some travel bans are simply based on racism. We need to isolate when we come back from countries in Africa where there are close to zero cases; but not when we fly around the EU which is the epicenter of the pandemic. Israel closed its borders to anyone who is not a citizen – except citizens can go in and out as they please, as if they were completely immune and not a vehicle either.
