Is Your Site Blocked by the Great Firewall of China?

The Great Firewall of China censors large parts of the Internet for those connecting from within her borders. The site, greatwallofchina.org, is a free online utility that lets you check if any of your favorite virtual destinations are blocked. (foXnoMad is blocked by the way.) A good way to find out if you can get to leave a comment on your BFF’s Myspace. “ooooh, like omg, China is so way cool!”

The best way to get around the GWOC is to download an application like Tor, send IMs with encrypted Meebo, or remote access your computer in a free country and surf that way.

It looks as though it blocks sites that it does not know and only allows those deemed to be “appropriate”. I’m not sure what we deserved to this. Perhaps it was all of our crotch talk?
