In reply to Porkster. Straight to the point, I like that. I think most people who have these reasons (or excuses) would love to play devil's advocate. I think fear of breaking routines is a big part of the problem. On top of that saving money for a significant time is hard for a lot of people. Doesn't have to be though.

What?
Point 1. You don’t get holidays?
2. It’s called saving!
3. Never looked at a post card and said I’d like to go there? Buy a map
and a dart.
4. They’ll still be there when you get back. Better still, take them
with you, its more fun. They could help with point 3.
5. Family holidays are fun too. also helps with point 3.
6. Talk to them, Most people say “you lucky thing going overseas” People
want to go on holiday. your S.O. can help with point 2 and point 3.
7. Set a date and a savings plan.

These are all excuses not reasons! Fear of the unknown is usually more the problem. My In-Laws had never traveled so we took them with us (point 4) now they hardly stay at home (except for point 2).
