I’ve got some ideas of my own, but would really like to hear from you experianced travelers. What’s the one piece of advice you’d give to someone about to set off on a trip?
Let us know your travel mantras in the comments and I’ll chime in with my own nuggets of wisdom too.
If you’re going to learn how to say anything, learn how to say “please” and “thank you” in the language of the country you’re traveling to…people will be a lot nicer if you’re polite! 🙂
@ Deniz:
I agree – learning just 5-10 words of a foreign language will get you a much better attitude and give you a better understanding of the culture/country you’re visiting.
@ everyone else:
I’d say enjoy each aspect of traveling, even the inconveniences like long layovers, broken down cars, and everything else. Treat each trip like an adventure and take notice of the local culture; which can be found in every destination even close ones!
