Some New Things Coming to L’avant Poste

Some things to look forward to coming up very soon. These cool new things coming up soom = more ways to waste time during the week at work, school, and home.

😀

  • A new editor to L’avant Poste giving the Eastern Euro touch we’ve been looking for.
  • A Turkish site sprouting up very soon.
    • And if you don’t know Turkish in the 4 years it will take you to learn it there will be pictures instead. Pictures don’t require learning anything and many of the pictures will be of hot girls. So there you go. That is coming soon too. Ladies, you’ll get to see great scenery and I’ll make sure there are some studs in there too.

9/11 5th Anniversary

We are all Americans today.

-Le Monde

I never understood what the baby-boomers were talking about when they said they’ll never forget what they were doing the day JFK was assassinated. I realized what this meant 5 years ago today.

My little story – please feel free to share yours too…

I was listening to Howard Stern going in to work before my afternoon classes (I was an undergrad at the time). I heard that an airplane had hit one of the World Trade Center buildings and I remember thinking it was probably a 2 person small plane. Freak accident. Then I went into a deli near by to grab some breakfast and as I was watching on the small television there I saw -live- the second plane hit…

When I walked into my office everyone was in hysterics.

I was truly shocked that day. This is my story.

Myrtle Beach is 10 hours away

If you are driving in the wrong direction for an hour.

Luckily I am observant on non-essential elements in my enviornment. I actually said to myself:

Why are all these people with Georgia license plates going toward Virginia?

Then I said:

OOOooohhhhh!!! Maybe they are not going the wrong way, but I am.

Duh.

Katrina Update

I though of this the other day…

Last year I wrote an email to the US Postal Service to find out whether or not they delivered mail even during the days right after Hurricane Katrina struck the New Orleans area. (Unfortunately it was destroyed in my computer crash last winter…someone aka. me forgot to back up that night).

Anyway, here is the answer.

  • The USPS does not deliver under conditions that may endanger the life of a postal worker.
  • The USPS does NOT have a motto, although each branch may have an inscription – the most famous being the one found on the New York General Post Office
    • Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

There is a little bit of trivia for you. I wrote to the USPS last year and got a prompt response but if you have any questions for these types of organizations an email can usually answer your question. I do from time to time.

Are We Sickos?

L’avant Poste hasn’t had a poll up in a while and we were well overdue for one. It is sitting just to the right of this post.

I am fascinated with the Steve Irwin death tape – is anyone else? Click in a little vote, maybe there is still some decency afterall!
