The Citadel Of Qaitbay sits along Egypt’s Mediterranean coast and provides beautiful views and photo opportunities of the harbor and rest of nearby Alexandria. There is an entrance fee and exploring the fort’s rooms and courtyard will take about an hour. There isn’t much written to help guide you inside but many of the tourist police inside are willing to give you mini-tour (though usually with the expectation of a few Egyptian pounds in return). For the views alone (try to get some pictures from the Sultan’s room which isn’t allowed but you may have time to sneak a few) it’s worth the cost of entry.
