One of the nicest places I’ve stayed in India with very friendly staff, most of whom are members of the same immediate family and own the guesthouse. The food served on the rooftop terrace is excellent and you’ll enjoy the company of two turtles who live up there – along with the occasional monkey hopping by. The kitchen is also open until about 9pm and the dishes I tried were all tasty. Much like the town however, the guesthouse goes quiet at about 10pm at the latest so large groups should plan on heading out to one of the nearby cafes with a front door key if staying out late is the plan. The Shivam Tourist Guesthouse also has free wireless Internet, which was surprisingly fast, although cut off from time to time.
