Begun by Hameeda, the grandmother of the current manager Arwa, At Hameeda has is an entirely female-run establishment – something quite rare for Yemen. The rooms are large, clean, and designed to be bright and inviting. There’s also the Hameeda Restaurant, which is tied to the hotel, about a block away and served probably the best meal I had during my time in Yemen. There is no wireless or other Internet access available at the hotel, which serves a simple breakfast in the mornings.
