Next time you leave your house to under your neighbor’s care, you won’t have to worry about brown plants when you return from vacation. Botanicalls is a project that uses senses in the soil of your houseplants to give you (or your house-sitter) a ring when it’s time for some H2O.

The Botanicalls project is fundamentally about communication between plants and people. We are empowering both by inventing new avenues of interaction. Plants that might otherwise be neglected are given the ability to call people and request assistance. People who are unsure of their ability to effectively care for growing things are given visual and aural clues.

Here’s a clue: if the dirt is dry, add water – if it’s moist, don’t. Maybe a diagram would be more helpful.
