Whatever holidays you celebrate – or don’t – at the end of the Gregorian calendar year many of us are already well into thinking about the coming one ahead. Although it’s not quite close enough to the last minute for my commitment, I’ve started setting some travel searches into stone. The first 3 months of 2014 look to be a busy one for me through the Baltic states then northern Africa, details I’ll be sharing with you in January.
Where do your 2014 plans and dreams take you?
Concrete or still crystallizing, the best travel plans materialize through a thorough mixture of inspiration. I hope you’ll plant more seeds of adventure in my head and others with all the places you will, might, or hope to go in 2014.
Hopefully (pennies permitting) back to Italy for us later on in the year and also a New Year’s Resolution to go back to at least a couple of places in Turkey we’ve visited in the past but many moons ago. Time for a revisit. That’s possibly Ephesus etc again in March as we might be in Izmir then for Fethiyespor’s match against KarΕΔ±yaka. Fethiyesporluyuz – not quite sure how that happened. π Enjoy whatever you’re up to! π
You are following the team, yes! I love the enthusiasm even though I’m not too happy about a recent victory of yours π I hope to see you both some time in the New Year and miss not being able to bother you in person from time to time π

I don’t know what else in SE Asia, but come August, I will start a year long working holiday in New Zealand.
I don’t think I could ever be this organized (or planned in advance)! A useful skill to have, happy travels and new year π
A 4 month cycle tour of north mid-western Europe and then Mexico for 6 months. Bring. It. On!!!
Sounds like you (and your legs!) are ready for the New Year!
Atlanta in March to run a marathon, hopefully hiking the Grand Canyon at the end of May (waiting to hear about permits), possibly Iceland in June to run a half marathon at midnight on the summer solstice and then targeting the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia for the fall. And maybe an African safari over the holidays next year.
Enjoy the Baltics, let me know if you need any tips or suggestions!
It sounds like an incredible set of plans but the Iceland one really has peaked my imagination. I hope (but am pretty sure) you’ll post the pictures on your blog and look forward to seeing them.
I will finally be spending time in Asia in 2014! I will be traveling overland from Hong Kong to Nepal.
My 43rd birthday will be spent in Belgium in August.
Then I get one more big trip in December. I have decided to not pick where I am going yet. I always pick a place and then end up somewhere else. This year, I am going to wait and see. But I hope it is South America.
” always pick a place and then end up somewhere else.” << hehe, sounds like me! Have fun wherever it happens to be!
2014 will include a cycling trip through Central Europe along the Amber Trail from Gdansk to Budapest, a visit to Bruges for beer tasting, a trip to Los Angeles for a Transatlantic concert, a trip to where ever Flower Kings will be playing and hopefully we’ll spend the 2014 winter holidays listening to concerts in Vienna. All this because the only places we went to in 2013 were a few road trips on the west coast of the U.S.A., which is like our own backyard.
Biking, beer, and music – one of the best combinations for any plans, anywhere π
I think 2014 is a good year for you to add Slovenia to your schedule. π
Doesn’t sound like a bad New Year resolution at all!
No firm plans yet besides business trips, but I’ve been planning out trips in my mind! I’ve been really drawn to nature lately and hope to make it to the Galapagos Islands in 2014, and also visit some beautiful natural areas in Central America. I’d also like to get in as much diving as possible and hopefully make it to Thailand. Happy new year!
Something I’d like to do as well this year. More nature and a little more time disconnected from the Internet while seeing it π Even reading your plans sounds refreshing, enjoy!
If money permits, planning to cross from Russia – Mongolia – China – Tibet – Nepal overland (train/jeep) in 2 months..
till now the itinerary looks something like this : St. Petersberg – Moscow – Irkutsk – Ulan Bator – Beijing – Pingyao – Xian – Guangzhou – Lhasa – Kathmandu
Mongolia is a place I want to motorcycle through so badly…
