Grouping this year’s entries by region has already made for a number of very close First Round match ups. Last year’s champion Craiova was eliminated by nearby Targu Jiu in one of the earliest first round exits by a previous winner I can remember. There were also two draws at the end of the round and as I am every contest, acted as the tie breaker. It wasn’t easy in either case but Perast and Palermo both sneak into the Second Round of remaining 32 cities which begins right now.
You have until Monday, March 9th 12:00pm US EST to vote in each of the match ups below. Those of you reading through email and RSS will have to click-through to this page to vote.
You’ve got all weekend to vote, remember, the Sweet 16 round right after this one begins next Tuesday, March 10th. Good luck to all of the remaining cities!
Hi Anil, I don’t know which end the problems are on but’ I didn’t get the e-mail that it said was sent, so I couldn’t confirm and I don’t know if any of my votes registered. Also, the second pole didn’t load properly (Berlin vs Vienna) and wouldn’t let me vote on it.
This new procedure is very convoluted and confusing. Too many steps just to place one vote. I know you must have a reason for doing it this way, but there’s gotta be a better way.
You did, however, make this years’ poll much better.
Yep, the confirmation emails go straight to the spam folder.
Thanks for letting me know about the problems. I’ll work on fixing them for the next round, sorry for the trouble. The checks are in place to make sure everyone gets a fair vote.
Istanbul v Fethiye is just cruelty! 😀 Voted…
A very, very difficult choice 🙂
I see that in the next round will have an all Romanian battle in the sweet 16. It is a pity that one city will remain. I am hoping that it will be Tg. Jiu.
Very harsh and interesting competition it will be the next round.
It is looking that way but only one can remain!
