Protect Your Travel Gadgets With The Invisible Shield

Cover your electronic friends from scratches, cracks, and stains with the Invisible Shield. The Invisible Shield is a scratch protection film that was developed by US military to protect helicopter blades.

The thin film covers iPods, laptops, and other devices completely; or they even sell custom screen-only versions. The prices are moderate (around $26 for a full iPod Touch cover) and come with the film, cleaning solution, and a small squeegee to get out any air bubbles.

By far one of the best scratch resistant methods I’ve used to protect my valuable screens that take a beating every time I hit the road. Of course a shiny clean screen is pretty useless if your device doesn’t have any power. Try using a solar backpack for the outdoors or bring an outlet USB charger.

Flier Etiquette Tips

Delta Airlines is attempting to educate passengers on airplane etiquette to help them confront tense situations while at 35,000 feet.

Part of the problem is that airlines haven’t properly educated the public on what to expect aboard a plane, said Andrew R. Thomas, an assistant professor of international business at the University of Akron and an author of books on air travel and security. And growth in air travel has meant thousands of new passengers who have never been in the air, he said.

Being courteous to your fellow passengers in the air is no different than being considerate on the ground. There are some basic rules that we can all follow to make the experience of being jammed in a metal cylinder with 100 other people for hours more enjoyable.

  • Basic Hygiene – People on airplanes are paranoid about getting sick and are hyper germ-phobic. Most complaints I’ve heard are about people who don’t cover their mouths when they cough or sneezing in the open. A set of tissues should be part of your small travel essentials so you don’t an awkward hand-of-snot to deal with. Add some hand sanitizer and not only will fellow passengers not be scared of you, but you’ll be less likely to get sick as well.

My Predictions For 2008 Selected In Second Week Of Travel Blog Carnival

My travel predictions for 2008 was selected by that Canadian girl as one of her favorite posts for Travel Rants’ Carnival.

This is the second week of the carnival where the best 9 entries were selected. Last week my article on how to keep your online accounts safe was featured.

I agree with that Canadian girl, I hope that my prediction of increased terrorism on tourist destinations is wrong. Do you have any psychic input for 2008?

Hotel Bed Bug List

Make sure your next hotel isn’t on a list of places with known infestations. This Stormtrack thread has a detailed list, as does the Bed Bug Blog.

Both lists seem heavy with New York City and London hotels. Keep your eyes opens for bed bug clues such as sniffing dogs in the lobby, or allergy (aka. bed bug) free bed covers.

The little critters hitch rides in luggage and travel all over the globe. There is no real one-stop source to find out if your next hotel is infested, you’ll have to search forums, travel blogs, and ask around to avoid bed bug bites.
