360 View of Istanbul

…Fethiye, and Cappadocia including sounds. If you’ve ever wondered what Istanbul is like, here is a good primer from the Washington Post.

If you are planning a trip to anywhere in Turkey, read this first.

Best Advice on Travel to Turkey: TurkeyTravelPlanner

Created and run by Tom Brosnahan. I had the opportunity to meet him last year – he wrote the first travel guide on Turkey after his first trip there in the 60s as a member of the Peace Corps.

He has since written many good books about Turkish traveling, life, and culture – but it?s his website that really caught my eye. It gives any information you could want about Turkey from an American point of view – the questions he asks are the ones most people think of first:

Hack Your Body: Abs on a Plane

A tip from the new book LL Cool J’s Platinum Workout.

  • Squeeze and contract your abs for 20 seconds once an hour everyday.

“LL” says he doesn’t know the science behind it though he swears by it. I’ve been doing this for a week now and to be honest my abs to feel harder and look more define. This is great for travel where you don’t want to look like a freak or can just hop on a treadmill.

Here are some other tidbits.

Get Out of That Verizon Contract

Cell phone contracts are much like Iraqi death sentences, there is simply no way out and no hope for appeal. There is an out for Verizon customers who need to cancel their contracts before moving to Italy to stalk George Clooney or for regular folk who aren’t necessarily travelers but like those fancy Cingular phones.

Screw the fees baby that extra cash can be put to good use in Amsterdam! Click the link in the quote below for full details:

If you’re ready to end your Verizon service, put on your mean face and give them a call at 800) 922-0204. Ask if the text message rate change applies to you. If it does, read them the “Our Rights to Make Changes” section. Repeat. They’ll probably fight you on this, but hang in there. Ask for a supervisor. Escalate. You can do it! You have until March 1, 2007 to end your service.

Squeeze Your PC in to a Mini

I’ve finally gotten my Mac mini up and running – so now what to do with my old PC? I’ll be keeping mine (geekdom requires it), however there are many of you out there that have bedrooms that don’t need to resemble a scene from the Matrix.

If you move around quite a bit the mini will save you hassle and shipping fees. The best thing to do is to buy Parallels for Mac ($79) which lets you run Windows side by side on your Mac. Just back up your stuff from the old PC, move it over to your mini and then donate your old machine.

How many of you Mac users have been in this situation? What did you end up doing with your old PC…oh, and have any good software to recommend, let’s say to download music?? 😉
