Comfortable rooms and a highly accommodating staff, my stay at the Manakah Tourist Hotel was a pleasant one. The lunches and dinners were excellent, although in the evenings there seemed to be a bit of a tourist trap vibe as touts were invited in to make sales pitches at guests. Otherwise the views from the terrace were captivating as clouds regularly came off the mountains and enveloped the town and the rooms were kept in good shape. The bathrooms were very, very small however with showers overlapping the toilets so it takes some acrobatics to use either. A basic breakfast is served at the hotel, which doesn’t have an Internet connection at the moment. The owner hopes to reinstall an Internet connection once tourism to Yemen picks up again, which has dropped travel to Manakah substantially since 2010.
