My friend Darren over at Travel-Rants is looking for travel safety tips for the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Know Before You Go Campaign. The program is aimed at keeping British tourists safe during their travels abroad.
I’d like to help Darren by first asking all of my savvy readers – what is the single best way to stay safe abroad? Let us know in the comments you oh so smart travelers and you may see your tip in the KBYG pamphlet to be released this July.
Tomorrow I’ll be posting a number of ways to stay safe as you travel abroad which applies not only to the Brits, but everyone else as well.

Carry some cash with you at all times, but also stash some cash in different places while traveling. What I mean is carry some cash with you in your wallet, leave some in your suitcase at the hotel, put some in your shoe, anywhere. I’ve known too many people who have had at least a couple hundred dollars stolen from their hotel rooms or from pick-pocketers…so I think it’s a good idea to spread out your money. And nowadays since there are ATMs everywhere, it’s unnecessary to carry around so much cash at once!
