Wow ! That’s sure is a winner.
So many great photos to come this week, it’s hard to choose!
That’s a good one! Must be something about Ankor Wat that makes us go off the deep end with photos.
It’s been very popular so far in the contest, what a coincidence that all 3 of the first entries feature Angkor Wat.
As Buddhist and a Southeast Asian, I find this offensive and very disrespectful. There are signs all over the ruins and temples to show respect for the Buddhist religion and the country that you are in, and to NOT to do this. They write this in all the guidebooks, as well. Yet, you blatantly show this off on your blog. I’m very surprised that you, foXnoMad, a fellow world traveler would even post this. This woman is clueless and shows no respect as a traveler, whatsoever. Why not post travel pictures of people being offensive to the Muslim, Jewish, or Christian religion?
Hi Som, I’m sorry the picture offended you. It’s certainly not the intent of the contest and your point is well taken. Of course since offending people isn’t what I set out to do I won’t go actively trying to offend followers of other faiths either.
It’s one picture (and can be said the same for any of my posts) that if you find offensive I’d offer you to overlook. I’d hope you don’t find my site on the whole offensive and think you’ll still find plenty of other useful and entertaining content.
Well, at least she admits her disrespect :/
I’m a sucker for the cheesy photos, myself.
Glad you’re enjoying the contest Shannon!
Well, I think this is a fun contest and lets leave it at that without bringing in any religion, race etc into discussion.
That said, I don’t think it is a disrespect for any particular religion, it could have been a church or a mosque or any other religious place also.
Lets enjoy the contest and photos. 🙂
All of these comments have me interested in reading more about the site, in a religious context. I can’t say I’m completely familiar with that aspect of it.
I’m Buddhist as well and I would have to agree with Som 🙁
Along with cheesy, it’s been a thought provoking photo. I’m looking forward to reading more about the Angkor Wat.
