Its’ been a while since I solicited your suggestions, advice, and critique, although I’m incredibly lucky to get your feedback in my inbox regularly. I get many creative suggestions from those who make this site what it is and my travels possible – aka. all of you who read and support foXnoMad.
- What would you like to see more of on foXnoMad?
As my newsletter subscribers heard recently, I’ve got a number of new features and programs I’ll cooking up in the foXnoMad labs over the summer. Before the kitchen gets hot though, I would really like to know what you’d prefer to see more of. And less.
I’m open to all kinds of suggestions – from more photos or contests, to other creative ones that don’t exist yet because your neurons haven’t fired up the ideas yet. Feel free to leave your ideas on the comments below or alternatively on my Facebook page. Changes are around the corner as the 5th anniversary of foXnoMad approaches – and I can’t think of a better person to help shape them – you!

Hey Anil! Long time no speak:) I’ve been following your adventures though. Love them. I really enjoy your blog as is.
Did you think about putting more pics of you? It would be great to see you as well~
Hi Marina, nice to hear from you 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion, I have been thinking about it actually since I’ve only got a handful out of a thousand other travel photos I’ve taken 😛 Somehow I neglect turning the camera around a bit..
Interesting what Marina said. Do you think it would enhance your blog to have more pics of yourself in it? I’m not sure. It’s something I think about quite a lot for our blog but never reach a conclusion.
Enjoying seeing more of your own photos though. 🙂
Julia
One of my main focuses lately has been trying to infuse a bit more of my own personality in the site and I think the occasional photo with me in it would really help to that effect. (Putting more of my own photography has been part of that, glad you like the pics 🙂 Personal photos are something I easily put off though and I need to just make the leap.
I do think it would help your site as well, although you have a strong personality and character online, even a small ‘about’ photo would make the page stickier. In my experience it helps to create a bond, especially with newer readers.
We’re supposed to be giving YOU suggestions for YOUR site!! 🙂 Lots more of your own pics and just a few more videos. But only short ones. Long is boring. That’s my two penneth’s (or cent’s) worth. Apart from that, I’m with Anjuli – all is well.
Julia
hahah, I thought you were asking a bit in there too! I’ll keep the suggestions in mind though and start using even more personal photos 🙂 Thanks Julia!
I actually love the blog the way it is…I have loved the diverse topics- the ‘help’ topics for travel, the introduction to travel places, the contests (oh how I love those) :)…the photos…So I guess I’m not much help because I’m not giving any constructive criticism or thoughts— I just enjoy your blog!!
I appreciate the feedback and the support as always Anjuli. It’s very helpful to hear what you like about the site, I’ll do my best to keep it coming. Thank you again 🙂
Hi Anil,
Something that would engage me even more, and perhaps many of your readers, would be reading about trips you do to offbeaten locations, where what you describe and the pics you take are really out of the ordinary. I’m talking about visiting and hanging out with the Himba in Namibia, or the Uros in lake Titikaka, maybe with some of the tribes who live in Papua New Guinea, exploring the island of Tanna in Vanuatu and hanging out with the people there, mountain people in the Himalayas…perhaps a bit more of adventure travel. On the other hand maybe this is something you are not really into (although I do think otherwise after reading about your visit to Iraq), or don’t want Foxnomad to head in that direction. Anywho, I do think it would be cool to see you visiting these kinds of places, and seeing great photos. Oh, and video! I think short videos portraying unusual and interesting places are always fascinating if done properly. I know I would be doing all this with my blog if I could, though unfortunately cannot at this point in time- but am hoping to do so soon! You have a great site Anil, very useful too!
Hi Federico, I do enjoy adventure travel 🙂 I’m working my way around so will (hopefully) eventually get to at least every country. My major tie usually with getting too far away from civilization is Internet. I require many hours a week to keep things operating so finding a balance for this, with good advanced preparation is key.
Video is definitely in the cards, I’ve got an angle I want to try that should be evident over the next few this summer.
I appreciate the feedback very much!
I hear you Anil
With these kinds of destinations you need to have visited other areas before and have the posts ready, and set them to publish on autopilot although unfortunately this means you cannt perform the usual tweaks. It might be worth it, and I look forward to those videos!
The posts are the manageable part, I usually have a few lined up in advance – it’s the business side of things that takes up much of my time these days. Keeping up with advertisers, 100 or so emails a day, managing my server for clients…though you’re right, there must be some way to work around it. I’m also a confessed workaholic 🙂
September will be my biggest challenge with the Ultimate Train Challenge. I’m already getting the shakes with the thought of such limited Internet over 27 days :S
100 emails per day? Now I am not sure if I’m happy or not about about getting that money. In any case I do understand that when travel=money= internet you do need relaible connections most of the time!
There is so much that goes behind the scenes of foXnoMad virtual headquarters! When it becomes a business, you’ve got to love it to keep up with it all; otherwise it would quickly become too arduous.
Like Anjuli I’ve enjoyed the help topics on travel. I also like your more personal/travelogue-style blog posts. Would be great to see some posts about where you live as well – whether it’s hostels, hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs or couchsurfing. I often enjoy accommodation posts, especially if I plan to visit the destination in question.
Hi Erica, thank you for the feedback and the ideas. I’ll keep in mind to mention more of the places I’ve stayed at (if I like them) to help out others who might coming to the places I’ve been 🙂
Hi Anil, just came by to say that I really enjoy your site very much the way it is, it is quite different from any other travel blog I’ve seen, maybe because of your personal touch of vivid humor in everything you write :-)) I’ve found some quite usefull info in the Tech part, and a travel blog is the last place I’d look for such info at first place…:-D
I think you may add a part about Hotels, the way you have Air and Car…
p.s. your newsletter was something truly refreshing and inspiring, during a very long and extremely stressful day I had today, thank you!
Hi Irena, you have me blushing over here. Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback, I sincerely appreciate it 🙂 I’ll also do more on accommodations and make the hotel/hostel section more clear.
Glad I could help relieve some of the work stress! 🙂 Thank you!
