Movie Review: Spiderman 3

We’ve been waiting a long time for Spiderman 3 to be released. Not wasting a single moment I went to the midnight opening here in the States.

Spiderman 3 starts slow and goes slow for about the first 20 minutes and there is way too much of Mary Jane singing. As if the initial singing weren’t bad enough we’ve got to hear her scream for the last 20. (Is Kirsten Dunst really needed for part 4?)

Then the ball gets rolling. James Franco brings some life back to the Goblin character and his acting is dead on. He’s cold, scorned, and just a bad dude. His acting gets more over the top as the movie goes on, but a good job overall.

US Names World’s Biggest Copyright Pirates

Those of you who want to get your illegal copies of Spiderman 3 can go to these countries the US has put on a “priority watch list“. These countries have been found to insufficiently protect music, movies, and other media from copying and selling for 5 cents on the street.

In addition to Russia and China, the 10 countries placed on the priority watch list were Argentina, Chile, Egypt, India, Israel, Lebanon, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and Venezuela.

These countries have been warned that if they do not improve their policies and crackdown they may face sanctions (yeah right).

Marie Claire Article: Mind The Gap?

Brought to you by Kinky, you can read page 1 and page 2.

UPDATE: This is the edition of Marie Claire from the Philippines. The article revolves around the age “gap” and how some couples deal with it. From an anthropological perspective, I am curious how age differences between people in a relationship is viewed in the Philippines and if this translates to the surrounding cultures? I think in Anglo-Euro society an older man is universally more acceptable than an older women. I’d appreciate any insights.

Thanks for sending this to me guys!

New Top: Milan

From Peaceluvbug,

That is a picture of “Il Duomo di Milano”. Every big city in Italy has its Duomo. This cathedral is located in the main piazza in Milan, and is a beautiful sight. I have been to Milan about 3 times in the past year, and I have never seen Il Duomo not under renovation. The lower front, as you can see in the picture, is covered with scaffolding and billboard-type things. Oh, and it is definitely worth going into the Duomo (for free), it is a beautiful cathedral.

You can see the full size picture in our gallery.

Virign Atlantic Working On Biofuel For Planes

The owner of Virgin Atlantic (actually all of Virgin) Richard Branson has been perusing the use of biofuels for airplanes. Although there are many skeptics, Branson hopes to fly a jet using solely biofuel by the end of 2008. Biodiesel does run signifigantly cleaner than the use of traditional fuels, but a few (major) problems (like crashes) remain.

?Since biodiesel is so similar to regular diesel oil, an engine that runs on one will hardly notice the difference if you switch it. This is the reason that alternative fuel enthusiasts are so gung-ho about it; There are no heaters, tanks, tubes, or filters to install. Just fill up your tank. But if your car craps out on biodiesel, all that happens is you stop on the road.
