Congratulations to Daryl, whose Bellagio post was closely voted by foXnoMad readers as the Sexiest Summer Story, earning him $250 towards his next trip. I hope that he’ll update us about his trip when he returns. Below are the final poll results.

I would like to thank Luis, Gorryon, Frederika, Erickson, and Daryl for their entertaining entries. Overall I think the contest was a success but there are some things I plan on doing differently for the next contest.
- A more specific topic
- Simplify the rules and voting procedure
- Shortening the submission time
I’ll be posting about the next contest, which will be a photo contest on October 1, 2008 – but first I would like to hear you opinions, suggestions, and criticisms about the Sexiest Summer Story Contest. Please let me know in the comments section of this post:
- Would you prefer shorter (50-100 word) essays, photo, and/or video contests?
- What prizes would entice you to enter?
- How should I determine the winner? (i.e. voting, number of comments, etc.)
foXnoMad has 2 annual ‘big prize’ contests with several smaller ones throughout the year. To keep abreast on the upcoming winter photo contest you can subscribe to my RSS feed or daily email updates.
I liked the Bellagio post.
In my opinion, 50-100 words are too short. I think 200-500 is better. As for prizes, cash (via paypal), films and books are among my favorites. I think voting is a good way to determine the winner, or perhaps a mix of voting and comments.
By the way, would you be able to update the link to my site in your blogroll? From Blissful Travel to Travel Blissful and http://www.travelblissful.com
Thanks,
@ Erica:
I agree, I think that the longer posts are better for everyone to read. I’ll take your prize suggestions into consideration as well and will post more about them on Oct.1 for the upcoming photo contest.
Hope to see a submission from you as well!
Thanks for the feedback!
@ Erica:
Oh btw, I updated the link to Travel Blissful also 😉
I think simplicity is really the key– I remember being a little confused at first about the way voting was going to go, (but I think voting is actually the best way to go about it as long as it’s 1 vote per computer) and about what exactly you meant by sexy summer travel story before. Your prizes are definitely good though!
@ Deniz:
I agree that simplicity and a specific topic are important to making the next contest easier to enter for more people.
I will probably have allow 1 vote per day. Any thoughts?
Yes, you should definitely limit the number of votes per day so people don’t get vote happy!
