The field of contestants for this year’s The Best City To Visit Travel Tournament has been rounded out to 64 cities nominated by you! This first vote will help sort out the cities and determine the match-ups for the first round robin vote this Friday, March 4th.
You can vote for your favorite 5 cities below; voting ends this Thursday at 9am US EST. Those of you reading through email and RSS will have to click-through to this page to vote.
In theory, the cities with the most votes in this round of voting should have an easier path to the final. Based on last year’s preliminary round, the cities with the most votes to start generally did advance farther overall. You can vote once, selecting 5 of your favorite cities.
This Friday these 64 cities will be paired in head-to-head match ups for the first round of elimination on the road to $150 for the winner.
Don’t worry if you missed this contest, I run several throughout the year. You can be the first to find out about the next one by signing up for my email updates, RSS feed, or bi-monthly newsletter.
Well there were some tough choices there!! I wanted to vote for so many of the cities, which I know and love- but alas- I had to stick with 5. Excited to see which ones actually make the cut. 🙂
Quite a variety this year; honestly looking at that list I’d find it extremely difficult to narrow down too!
All done, with a very European slant. 🙂

Europe is off to a good start but maybe South America will catch up as they get out of bed 🙂
So many nice places to choose from 🙂 The ones I picked showed up in the top 5 so far.
Hopefully that means you won’t have to choose between them…well, at least not on Friday!
Oh wow, I am excited to see the results of this travel tournament! So how do you pair cities for the match-up? Many votes against many votes, and few votes against few votes? And a minor point, but you misspelled my name! (Don’t worry, no biggie, it happens all the time) 😛
Oops, sorry about your name. I’ll fix it right now – I knew I’d make a typo somewhere when filling out the contest list 🙁
The match ups will be most votes against least; giving those with more votes in this round an advantage going in to Friday.
Wondering why Jerusalem is the only city without a country attached? It’s Jerusalem, Israel…
Primarily because UN and much of the international community does not recognize it as such and its status is in dispute.
If I go with my heart and own personal experiences, I have to vote for Lisbon. Budapest is up there as well.
Both in the first round of voting! I haven’t been to Lisbon yet but hear nothing but wonderful things. Tough competition though…
