The aftermath of a controversial all-Romanian Final Four leaves us with the potential of another first: a repeat champion city. Sibiu faces its southern rival Craiova, which got nearly 200 more total votes in the previous round. We’ll see if Craiova’s supporters can stop Sibiu in what I suspect will be a close and competitive vote. I look forward to watching the results that determine where in Romania I’ll be visiting later this year.
Voting in the Championship will be open until 18:00pm US EST this Sunday, April 6th. Those of you reading through email and RSS will have to click-through to this page to vote. FINAL RESULTS won’t be announced until Tuesday, April 8th and current results will begin displaying later in the week.
Good luck to both of the finalist cities!
Proud to be Romanian! Anil, I hope you will visit Sibiu again later this year, even if Craiova wins. May the best city of this year win.
And I hope, after you will visit Craiova and Sibiu, you will visit other cities, like Timișoara or Iași. Have an awesome week!
Thank you. I look forward to seeing where you and the rest of Romania send me this year!
Craiova sure
Let’s note that Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture in 2007.
And that Craiova will be applying for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2021. 🙂
there is a huge difference between “Sibiu was” and “Craiova will be applyig”
The same difference that has always been between past and future. 🙂
The difference between Craiova and Sibiu is huge! In Romania, let’s be honest, Craiova is well know only for being the town with the most gipsies and one of the most dangerous places. Craiova applying for Capital of Culture is like a kid applying to US Special Forces.
Craiova stands no chance when it comes to Sibiu ! Hermannstadt is the most beautiful city in Romania .
Herman… what? The final is between 2 Romanian cities, you have no business here, magyar.
First of all, this is my website and everyone is welcome. It doesn’t matter which cities are in the tournament, anyone can, and people from all over the world vote. Keep the comments polite please.
Praz, Hermannstadt is Sibiu’s German name, it has nothing to do with the Hungarians.
WILL !!!!!
2021….lol 1
will….lol 2
applying…. lol 3
Good luck
………………
I am so evil >;)
I was very happy to see so many Romanian cities competing in this year’s tournament and I think it’s fantastic to have an all-Romanian final again. For me – beyond any controversies and negative comments I’ve read thus far in both 2013 and 2014 tournaments -, this can only mean that my fellow Romanians really love their cities and that they are perfectly aware of the unique cultural heritage, beautiful scenery, great food and wonderful people that can be found here.
Go Romania! Good luck to Sibiu and Craiova!
Well said.
You are a great man
Sibiu is a wonderfull town but Craiova is better !
perfectly true
i wouldn’t count on that … it’s kinda the other way around. oh, and let’s not forget on thing : craiova it’s in “oltenia”
Sibiu has now direct flights from London, so it’s pretty easy to reach besides having a lot of history, culture and fun places to spend your evenings.
Craiova also have direct flights from London 😉
What though?
What though? Yes, Craiova also have direct flights from London
Craiova is very nice!
I think anyone can say who is the best city just after he visited both of them, its a huge difference. I hope that The real Best City to win this competition!!!
I think that Sibiu has shown everything in the last years. And it was realy wonderful, but Craiova represents Romania aswell, and it’s doing a great job promoting art,and young people, new ideas, let’s give it a chance, because we need to diversify. Why stay in the same place forever??I mean,if it’s in the final, why give credit to the same location? The south-west of Romania it’s also interesting and all the time people who lived here always have encountered difficulties in promoting their stuff because it’s not Bucharest,or Cluj,or Timisoara …
If you’re proud of being romanian, you have to be proud of all Romania, even Craiova! We have people here too,you know? Artists, culture, hip hop, bboys, skaters, rock bands, youth, traditions, desire, fashion, underground…I’m sick of being discriminated just because we’re not from the top locations in the country…So,think again and vote for a new place to visit,to promote and to understand!
I love Sibiu, the way people live there it is an inspiration for all romanians, but Craiova has come a long way and it really has things to show, even if it is not all ready. When all the developments will be ready it will surpass Sibiu by far, but more important to notice it is the fact the Craiova is building it’s own identity – it is not as refined as Sibiu though but is far from a kitch -, so when it will be done, in a couple of years, you will want to visit them both. Sibiu is a spiritual city, Craiova is and it will be a city for active, working, people, capable to boost Romania economy, a more pleasant place to live and work than Bucharest. Sibiu it takes care of our souls and inspire us when we are down. You go there, you charge your accumulators and return to war zone in Craiova. These are just my opinions.
Respectfully,
Vasile Lucian BUJOR
Craiova was the great town in Romania during Christmas Time. Beautiful lights and decorations…
Sibiu is the greatest, is my own town!
Sibiu may be a more beautiful city, but the most beautiful women perhaps in the world are from Craiova
CRAIOVA is thr best!!
Good lock for us!!
Craiova? c`mon. That`s not a city to visit.
I recomand you to visit Baile Olanesti, a small city in Valcea, a balneoclimateric resort!
Great people many places to visit, many things to do in your freee time!
Have a good day
Thanks but I’ll be focusing on Craiova for this next Romania trip I take 🙂
