The other day I mentioned on my Facebook page that I’ve been quieter than usual lately, typing words, lines of computer code, and defragmenting my mind. Northern Hemisphere summers are typically when I’m writing and you’re traveling, but now the road calls again…in Klingon. In what has become something of an annual migration for this nomad, I’m back in Las Vegas to attend the Star Trek Convention at the Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, where I’m staying as their guest.

Getting Back Online By Getting Off It

I’ll be officially on vacation between August 13th-17th so I won’t be completely silent for the next few days. I’ve already spotted a few Vulcans drinking at the Rio’s Masquerade Bar and you can find similar absurd photos on my Facebook and Twitter feed, under the hashtag #STLV. On Monday I’ll be heading to the Grand Canyon and begin blogging again during the week of August 19th from Washington DC; where I’m sure to eat more than a few slices of Naples at Pupatella.

  • I’m planning a meet up in the DC area, let me know if you’re in town and I’ll post details on Facebook and the comments below.

Afterward, my upcoming stops focus on Asia, specifically Pakistan but before October I’ll be in the best city to visit in 2013: Sibiu, Romania.

Changing How I Tell You I’m On Vacation

Since I’m terrible at taking breaks, I’ll still have over 5 weeks of the annual 6 I give myself to go completely offline. The thought of me writing to say I won’t be writing will get tiresome at some point, so to spare you that, I’ll just put a little note up on my blog pages letting you know I’m boozing on some island, testing race cars, or simply working behind the scenes.
