Bankrate has an interactive online tool that shows you how far your pimp-ride will go on a tank of gas. Besides comparing your car’s performance to others on the road, it shows you how much a tank costs, the average miles per gallon (the real ones not the EPA ones), and the range of the vehicle.

Remember to use the Google gas price widget to find out where the lowest prices are in your area, check a traffic map to avoid unnecessary idling, and prepare your home before those long road trips.

US FAA Airport Delay Status Map

Check the flight delay status of major airports across the US with the FAA’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center.

The map displays 5 colors representing each airport to quickly let you know if delays are 15 minutes, or several hours.

If you are the one departing, check the average wait time for a particular flight, and the current security checkpoint wait time. Those of you picking up can track flights for free, or take a quick peek at the status with the FlightStats gadget for Vista.

Voltron Movie In The Works

A live-action version of the 80s cartoon Voltron is coming to movie theaters.

Marks’ take is described as a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico. Five ragtag survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth’s invaders.

A He-Man and Street Fighter big screen versions are in the works also. Until then, you can watch your favorite old TV shows for free online, copy your old DVDs to a video iPod, or watch them with subtitles (and add your own!)

Ruyan Tobaccoless Cigarette

The China based company Ruyan, sells a $210 nicotine atomizer that delivers the stimulant without tobacco or tar.

Ruyan was launched in China in 2004, and last year its sales reached $36.5 million. Turkey quickly became Golden Dragon’s second-largest market, followed by Israel and Australia.

The name means “like smoke” and the battery powered device is currently waiting for FDA approval in the US. Certainly a healthier alternative, since nicotine is not a carcinogen. With smoking being banned in France and England, perhaps we’ll see Ruyan in the hands of these famous smokers?

So, does this all mean that smokers can continue with the real thing and hope for FDA approval? I’ve long said the cigarette industry could save itself by providing healthier alternatives.
