As I mentioned last week, I’ve decided to be a good boss to my blogging self and take about 6 weeks of annual vacation each year. So this confessed work-and-travelholic is going to take the next 2 weeks off somewhere in the world. I’ll be slow to respond to comments, most emails, and there won’t be any new posts until February 21rst when I’ll launch this year’s Best City To Visit 2012 Contest.
In the meantime you can check out my least and most popular posts of 2011, my travel gadget gift guide if you’ve got a birthday coming up (happy birthday by the way!), or wander around my travel photos. Want to see aliens in varying degrees of clothing? I’ve got you covered there too.
I look forward to getting back to you soon and hope these withdrawal symptoms subside or increase significantly – I want to see where these hallucinations go from here.
Have an awesome vacation Anil!!! Much Deserved!
Thank you Vinny!
Have a good (and refreshing) vacation.
Thanks 🙂
What a smart decision. This blogging business will bury you alive if you let it. I may just do the same thing.
I figured why not add some employee benefits to my little operation 🙂
Enjoy it Anil, you deserve it 🙂
Thanks Guilia and good luck in the new travel search 🙂
I am still thinking about Romania! That was a great idea… but (as usual) I have so many things on my mind… Who knows where I’ll end up? 😀
I can’t wait to here where it is! I understand the problem of having too many choices well 🙂 Good luck!
Enjoy your vacation. I recently had a blogging vacation and it was the best decision ever. I was starting to lose my motivation but a little break was all I needed.
Breaks are great for motivation and creativity. I didn’t want to get to the point where I had to take a vacation. Plus I’m curious to see just exactly how I’ll react 🙂
We all need to take some time off to store some energy for future use. Have a great relaxing vacation!
I already don’t know what to do with myself!
YEAH!!!!! I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately…after someone asked me the question. “How do travel bloggers take vacation?” – and I didn’t have an answer for it. Have fun!!
haha, thanks Sherry! I’m not quite sure myself, think I’ll make a post about it once I can figure it out!
Good idea. I take a week between Christmas and New Years. But the traffic does tank when I do that! However the good news is, it comes back quickly.
That week in particular for me is a very low traffic time but am curious to see what happens while I’m away. I haven’t not blogged in 2 weeks since beginning…
Maybe travel blogger breaks was a trend you should have mentioned in your prediction post. I notice that Nerd’s Eye View is taking a break–although she’s filling her pages with guest posts while she is gone. Others go all photos for a while.
I considered both but decided to share the break with everyone else as well 🙂
Enjoy it dude 🙂 it is well deserved 🙂
Thanks Mina, I appreciate that!
Blog..I mean Bon Voyage!
hah! thanks!
Good choice of photo to finish up on for a while. 😉 Enjoy your chill out time!! Much deserved.
I thought that picture was just perfect for this post, glad you thought so too 🙂 It’s now a few days in and I think I’m learning the art of this vacation thing. (Even if I do pop up online here and there 😉
You’ll have to let me know how this worked out for you. I’ve been thinking about a vacation myself, but it seems strange since I’m kind of on vacation all the time. Will your readers stick with you? Will the analytics take a nose dive? Will the Earth stop turning on it’s axis? I’m dying to find out! I hope you have a great time. =)
I’d be happy to share (actually maybe a good idea for a longer post on http://travelblogadvice.com). So far Earth’s rotation looks good and readers haven’t completely disappeared from the site 🙂 It’s been good for the writer too in many ways, making for good blogging symbiosis.
Have fun. 🙂 you are the boss!
Thanks Juno – I figured I’d give that employee some downtime because otherwise he’d never take it 🙂
Great idea! I can’t wait to do this sometime in the future 🙂
I would definitely do it and if you’re interested in the blogging implications, I’ll be writing about those as well. I suspect there is some anxiety associated with taking a break especially for bloggers 😉
